Mechanical Engineer – 3 to 8 years of experience, Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop sheet-metal components and assemblies (enclosures, racks, brackets, panels) for BESS products.
- Prepare and review 2D drawings and 3D models with proper GD&T.
- Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
- Perform dimensional inspection using precision instruments such as:
- Vernier callipers, micrometres, height gauges
- Bore gauges, dial indicators, thread gauges
- Surface roughness testers (where applicable)
- Interpret and apply tolerances, fits, and measurement standards.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final quality inspections of mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Assist in preparation and review of inspection reports, checklists, and quality documentation.
- Work closely with manufacturing, vendors, and suppliers for fabrication and quality issues.
- Support vendor audits, first article inspections (FAI), and part approvals.
- Provide technical clarification to vendors on drawings and specifications.
- Support mechanical integration of battery modules, racks, cabinets, cooling components, and auxiliary systems.
- Ensure mechanical designs meet safety, structural, and environmental requirements relevant to BESS applications.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of sheet-metal design and fabrication processes.
- Hands-on experience with measurement instruments and inspection techniques.
- Good understanding of GD&T, tolerances, and fits.
- Experience in quality inspection and documentation.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX).
