About Goose

Goose is an early-stage startup reimagining how pet service businesses operate. We’re engineering the technology foundation that powers real-time commerce, seamless collaboration between pet parents and providers, and modern customer experiences, while delivering back-of-house simplicity and automation that make daily operations easier for our customers.

We build from the ground up using modern technologies to streamline operations, improve reliability, and simplify complexity at scale. Our platform combines data, automation, and AI to create dependable systems that solve real problems for real businesses. Through integrations with embedded partners, we extend our capabilities to deliver a connected ecosystem that helps pet service providers run more efficiently and grow faster.

From boarding and daycare to grooming and training, Goose brings the same level of technology and convenience to pet services that people expect in restaurants, hotels, salons, and gyms.

About the role

Goose is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to own the Payments product vertical, the system that powers transactions across the entire Goose platform. You will build and maintain secure, scalable, and intelligent payment workflows that deliver reliability and automation for both pet parents and providers.

As the owner of this vertical, you will work across APIs and UI to integrate with payment processors, streamline settlements, and enable seamless financial experiences across Goose’s platform. What You’ll Do

  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of Goose’s Payments systems and services.
  • Build reliable, self-tested, and maintainable products that minimize operational burden and ensure consistent performance.
  • Build secure APIs and user interfaces powering payments, invoicing, and payouts.
  • Integrate with payment processors to deliver robust and scalable payment workflows.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure payment functionality feels unified and intuitive.
  • Define and evolve the architecture for payment operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and resilience.
  • Maintain high standards for security, reliability, and performance across all payment systems.

Who You Are

  • Passionate about owning and scaling systems that move real money and build user trust.
  • Excited to shape a product vertical in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • A collaborative, pragmatic engineer who values accountability and quality.
  • Comfortable working across the stack with a focus on maintainability and performance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience building full-stack web applications.
  • Experience building or supporting products involving payments, transactions, or financial flows.
  • Proven experience integrating with at least one major payment processor (Adyen preferred; Stripe or Worldpay also valuable).
  • Experience working on both consumer-facing and business-focused applications, ideally within a modern SaaS environment.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, and React.js.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and AWS-based cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong understanding of SQL, data modeling, and modern database systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a history of effective cross-functional collaboration.
