Company Description

Wildfire Systems is a venture-backed startup that powers white-label cashback and coupon experiences for leading apps, websites, and brands. We help partners monetize their users' ecommerce journeys while helping those users save money and earn cashback across the sites they already shop.

Our platform powers high-scale consumer experiences and requires thoughtful engineering across performance, reliability, and partner customization. We are a remote-first team that values strong collaboration, practical problem solving, and building systems that scale.

Role Description

We are hiring a Frontend Software Engineer to help build and evolve the client-facing experiences that power our partners' cashback and coupon products.

This is a full-time, remote role (US only). In this role, you will work on frontend systems that support partner experiences across browsers and devices, including browser extension surfaces and web-based UI components. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teammates to ship high-quality user experiences and improve the underlying platform that supports them.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys both product-focused UI work and foundational frontend engineering, especially in areas like architecture, versioning, performance, and cross-browser compatibility.

What You Will Work On

  • Building and maintaining frontend experiences used by partners and their users across web and browser extension surfaces
  • Developing features in JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML, and CSS with a strong focus on performance and reliability
  • Contributing to our white-label frontend platform, where partner requirements vary and long-term maintainability matters
  • Improving architecture for reusable UI building blocks and configuration-driven experiences
  • Helping shape build, release, and versioning workflows for frontend deliverables across partners
  • Debugging complex browser and device-specific issues, including Chrome and Safari extension behavior
  • Instrumenting and improving frontend observability, analytics, and user experience quality
  • Working with PMs and designers to translate product requirements into polished, production-ready interfaces

What You Will Do (Day to Day)

  • Ship new frontend features and enhancements with clear ownership from implementation through release
  • Participate in technical design discussions and help evaluate short-term vs long-term tradeoffs
  • Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews
  • Investigate production issues and partner-reported bugs, then drive fixes to completion
  • Collaborate with teammates on architecture and delivery planning for upcoming work
  • Help improve internal frontend tooling, developer workflows, and testing confidence

Qualifications (Must Have)

  • 2+ years of professional experience building frontend web applications
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience building user interfaces that work reliably across browsers and devices
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including working through ambiguous issues
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working in a remote, team-oriented environment
  • Experience using AI-assisted and agentic coding tools in a professional software development workflow

Nice to Have

  • Experience building or maintaining browser extensions (Chrome and/or Safari)
  • Experience with white-label, multi-tenant, or highly configurable frontend systems
  • Familiarity with build tooling and release pipelines for frontend apps or extensions
  • Experience with analytics / telemetry instrumentation and performance monitoring
  • Experience evaluating architecture tradeoffs in fast-moving product environments
  • Interest in serving as an advocate for the thoughtful, responsible use of AI in engineering work
  • Experience helping teams adopt AI tools in a practical, safe, and high-leverage way

What We Value in This Role

  • Good product judgment and attention to UX details
  • Pragmatic engineering decisions that balance speed and long-term maintainability
  • Ownership and follow-through
  • Curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to improve existing systems thoughtfully

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Stock options
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
  • Flexible vacation time
  • Remote-first with a 100% distributed team (anywhere in the US)
  • Laptop and equipment you need to be successful
  • Company summits / offsites (travel and lodging covered)
  • 401(k) retirement plan
