Stord is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Operational Excellence team. In this role, you will play a key part in launching new fulfillment centers and scaling Stord’s warehousing and fulfillment network. You will analyze inventory profiles, storage utilization, and inventory turns to develop optimized facility layouts and workflows, including CAD-based designs.The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives across processes, people, and technology, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, throughput, and quality. This includes partnering with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize operational solutions involving automation and fulfillment robotics. Through data-driven analysis and hands-on execution, you will help shape the future of Stord’s fulfillment operations while delivering measurable improvements in performance and scalability.
What You'll Do:
Support material flow design, capacity planning, and operational layout development across Stord’s warehouse network, serving as a subject matter expert on warehouse systems, automation, and robotics.
Analyze operational requirements and evaluate warehousing technologies to support new site launches and network expansion initiatives across the U.S.
Assist in the selection and procurement of supply chain solutions, including hardware, software, automation equipment, and supporting technologies.
Support the implementation and optimization of material handling systems that drive improvements in capacity, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives within fulfillment centers, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance performance and reinforce Operational Excellence.
Conduct motion and time studies to develop engineered labor standards and identify opportunities for process optimization.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards, including ISO 9001, GMP, and FDA requirements where applicable.
Design warehouse layouts, process flows, and space utilization plans using AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other engineering tools.
Support solutions design and operational modeling for strategic customer opportunities and large-scale commercial pursuits.
Analyze inventory profiles, storage utilization, and inventory turns to develop scalable fulfillment solutions that improve throughput and service levels.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related STEM field.
1+ years of professional experience in warehouse planning, material flow engineering, fulfillment operations, industrial engineering, or supply chain consulting.
Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies in warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or SketchUp for facility layout and process design.
Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and fulfillment technologies.
Familiarity with material handling systems, warehouse automation, and robotics is preferred.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, GMP, and FDA guidelines.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across local and remote teams while managing multiple priorities.
