About this Role:
The Head of Fulfillment HR will serve as the strategic people partner to our senior Ops leadership team (VPs and above), oversee the Director of People Operations and their team, and be a hands-on leader who knows what 'great' looks like in a high-volume, high-velocity fulfillment environment. This is not a role for someone who reports on problems. This is a role for someone who owns outcomes.

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

Stord's fulfillment operations are growing faster than our HR leadership capability has scaled. We have a strong HR team embedded in our sites — but we need a senior leader who can:

  • Operate as a true peer and strategic partner to our VP-level Ops leaders

  • Drive proactive labor management and retention strategies, not just report on metrics

  • Build and scale a talent development capability across our frontline and management populations

  • Set the standard for what fulfillment HR looks like at Stord — and close the gap between where we are and best-in-class

  • Mentor and elevate the existing People Operations team

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Strategic HR Business Partnership

  • Serve as the primary HR partner to senior level operations leaders across the network as a proactive hands-on leader who identifies and acts on opportunities and influences with authority. This means a seat at the table, not a seat outside the room

  • Translate business goals — including site growth — into workforce strategies, org design recommendations, and people plans

  • Drive alignment between HR programs and operational outcomes: throughput, quality, cost, and employee engagement

  • Challenge the status quo and strive for a best-in-class people experience, rooted in our core values and built in partnership with the business

Labor Management & Retention

  • Own the strategy for retention across all levels, with a particular focus on high-churn markets

  • Partner with Operations and the Recruiting team on optimal labor demand planning, ensuring sites are operating at optimal capacity, including overseeing vendor management of the seasonal/contingent workforce

  • Build and refine our people programs including accountability structures to hit targets

  • Use data to diagnose root causes of attrition and drive systemic fixes — not just tactical responses

Talent Development

  • Design and deploy a talent development framework across different levels of the network, from frontline associates to senior leaders — building capabilities that reduce management attrition and strengthen the bench

  • Partner with Training & Development on execution, ensuring programs are grounded in the operational realities of our sites

  • Identify and develop high-potential talent and create structured succession plans for key roles

  • Coach and develop senior operations leaders on people management, feedback, and performance

People Operations Oversight

  • Lead the People Operations team across the network

  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching, and ensure the team is operating as strategic HR partners

  • Drive consistency in HR processes, investigations, compliance, and employee relations across sites

  • Ensure seamless onboarding, offboarding, and people operations execution as Stord opens new sites and integrates acquired companies

M&A & Growth Integration

  • Partner with the People team on M&A due diligence and integration for operations-related acquisitions

  • Assess org design, culture, and talent gaps in acquired companies and build integration roadmaps

  • Support rapid scaling of people practices as new sites come online

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Based in Atlanta, GA or willing to relocate; relocation assistance available.

  • Proven experience managing HR for a workforce of 1,200+ hourly employees across multiple sites

  • Demonstrated track record of reducing attrition and stabilizing a high-churn, high-volume workforce — with specific, quantifiable outcomes

  • Experience as a strategic HR partner to Directors and VPs across the Fulfillment network

  • Strong command of labor management, workforce planning, and contingent labor strategy

  • Experience building and refining talent development programs for hourly and management populations

  • Track record of developing and elevating HR teams

Strongly Preferred

  • Background in e-commerce fulfillment, 3PL, or retail distribution at companies with 2,000+ hourly employees

  • Experience in high-churn, low-wage urban markets — Atlanta experience is a meaningful differentiator

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, PE-backed or high-growth tech-enabled company environment

  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and data-driven HR analytics
