About the Continuous Improvement Engineer Position:

Stord is looking for a Lead Continuous Improvement Engineer to join the Operational Excellence team. This role will drive high-impact projects across multiple sites and serve as a subject matter expert in process improvement, layout design, and automation. The Lead CIE will act as a strategic partner to site and regional leaders, leading kaizens, standardizing best practices, and mentoring other engineers. While this position may not have direct reports initially, it is expected to grow into a people leadership role as the CI team expands. By applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, the Lead CIE will help Stord deliver scalable, efficient, and margin-protected fulfillment solutions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and oversee continuous improvement initiatives across multiple fulfillment centers, ensuring standardized best practices and measurable results in productivity, margin, and scalability.

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in warehouse layout design, material flow optimization, and automation/robotics integration.

  • Partner with regional and site leaders to identify operational gaps, conduct time and motion studies, and design engineered labor standards to drive efficiency.

  • Mentor and guide Continuous Improvement Engineers through project execution, problem-solving approaches, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, serving as an escalation point for complex challenges.

  • Drive implementation of advanced material handling systems, automation pilots, and supply chain technologies that enable capacity expansion and improved financial performance.

  • Own regional-level CI savings goals and support customer financial health by analyzing productivity metrics (UPH, OPH, L%R, units per sq. ft.) and recommending solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders—including Operations, Finance, and Customer Success—to ensure alignment on project priorities, solution design, and ROI validation.

  • Support solutions design on large-scale customer deals and new site implementations, ensuring operational readiness and scalability.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and quality management standards (ISO:9001, GMP, FDA) are embedded in process design and execution.

  • (Future scope) Take on people leadership responsibilities as the CI team expands, including direct management and development of Continuous Improvement Engineers.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or related STEM field (Master’s preferred).

  • 4+ years of experience in warehouse engineering, continuous improvement, or fulfillment/warehousing logistics consulting.

  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional Lean Six Sigma projects with quantifiable financial impact.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and warehouse layout design.

  • Strong expertise with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and fulfillment automation/robotics.

  • Proven ability to analyze and improve labor productivity using engineered standards and time studies.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to partner across multiple levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with a track record of delivering measurable results.

  • High attention to detail, accountability, and ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
