Brief Overview:

TheSr Accessibility IT Program Manager will be the expert in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) for Converge, our digital telehealth platform that combines a patient portal, provider care management tools, and employer/payer information access. You will work collaboratively with other IT leaders in Engineering, Design, and Product to ensure Converge is built with intuitive workflows that conform to WCAG standards, driving Amwell’s accessibility roadmap. You will work with other teams across the business including Professional Services, Marketing and Sales to provide RFP responses and customer accessibility guidance, explaining the accessibility features of our digital solution. Additionally, you will partner with all areas of the organization to interpret, document, prioritize, and drive WCAG and other product requirements from inception to delivery. You will steer accessibility audits of the platform, managing Amwell’s auditor vendor relationship, setting milestones, and keeping executive leadership updated on progress and timelines. You will work cross-functionally to ensure all integrated vendors that develop parts of the digital system are WCAG conformant. Your work will directly impact patients’ ability to successfully gain access to care through telehealth and hybrid healthcare that is not limited by geography and can be accessed from anywhere.

Focus areas for this product manager include but are not limited to WCAG compliance, Consumer Experiences, Admin Experiences, Configuration tools and Reporting tools. We will assess your best fit as we get to know you.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage 3rd party IT/digital vendor relationships / applicable WCAG accessibility firms (TPGi, Level Access)
  • Work with procurement to handle contracting and renewals
  • Act as the point of contact between the vendor(s)/ Amwell
  • Manage any communication/contact at the appropriate cadences
  • Provide guidance on client facing communications around WCAG timeline and roadmap
  • Develop any VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates) that clients may contractually need or have asked for on a case by case basis
  • Be available for consultation by internal teams to provide appropriate messaging to clients around accessibility compliance
  • Meet with any appropriate clients to provide accessibility guidance
  • Manage feature development from requirements definition through customer launch
  • Cross-functional requirements-gathering of complex, configurable consumer experiences
  • Craft internal and external communications around features, including release notes, user manuals, and feature descriptions
  • Work directly with Legal and Product teams to provide updates to digital accessibility standards and legislation
  • Drive accessibility audit completion / manage accessibility remediation programs focused on ensuring our digital platform meets required digital accessibility standards
  • Create a roadmap and timeline for any applicable accessibility audits conducted
  • Communicate progress and roadblocks for those audits to executive audiences
  • Maintain a source of truth for audit/VPAT/compliance documentation
  • Own any applicable Initiatives/Epics related to WCAG and other initiatives as appropriate
  • Including any audit work, client specific work
  • Work with teams to develop the digital Product with WCAG compliance in mind
  • Hold WCAG open office hours to answer questions from XVD, development, product
  • Conduct appropriate trainings to teach new hires about WCAG best practices
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure new digital features and changes continue to meet digital accessibility standards
  • Work with Engineering on the following
  • Writing user stories for accessibility tickets and audit updates
  • Prioritizing applicable tickets
  • Validating accessibility tickets before release
  • Refining the accessibility ticket prioritization and development allocation process
  • Honing WCAG requirements/commenting on and updating tickets
  • Inform process improvements related to WCAG
  • Inform processes on how to add WCAG to product requirements and how to sign off on WCAG compliance before tickets are closed
  • Maintain accessibility documentation
  • Including wiki pages, training pages.
  • Drive the product to stay ahead of WCAG compliance
  • Plan out how to be WCAG 2.2 AA compliant and continue to advance digital product compliance based on current standards
  • Work with the Design System to update designs/plan for compliance
  • Work with integrated vendors who must also be compliant with WCAG standards
  • Additional responsibilities as necessary

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in digital accessibility work
  • Exceptional knowledge of digital accessibility standards and legislations including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and principles
  • Experience managing end-to-end audits with 3rd party accessibility firms, including the ability to analyze accessibility reports
  • Strong understanding of software development processes. Experience with agile software methodologies; Agile/Scrum certification a plus
  • Technical ability to craft accessibility reports (VPATs)
  • Proven confidence in using assistive technologies such as screen readers
  • Strong understanding of product management processes
  • Demonstrated examples of exceptional emotional maturity and EQ
  • Experience working in a Software/SaaS and/or healthcare environment
  • Outstanding organization and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Passionate team player who is dedicated improving accessibility of all products
  • Fluency in product management tools (Jira, Confluence) for product planning and execution

The typical base salary range for this position is .$130,400- 179,300. The actual salary offer will ultimately depend on multiple factors including, but not limited to, knowledge, skills, relevant education, experience, complexity or specialization of talent, and other objective factors. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus based on a combination of company performance and employee performance. Long-term incentive and short-term variable compensation may be offered as part of the compensation package dependent on the role. Some roles may be commission based, in which case the total compensation will be based on a commission and the above range may not be an accurate representation of total compensation.
