Sift Healthcare is seeking a Data Engineer III to join our team. Data is the backbone of what we do at Sift. Our data engineers design and develop data pipelines to integrate disparate systems and curate data for machine learning. Our engineers are motivated not only to research new solutions but also to own the problem end-to-end.

The Data Engineer III will bring a strong understanding of data modeling principles and modern data platforms to the team, helping develop intuitive data model architectures, extract-load-transform (ELT) processes, and testing infrastructure to ensure reliably robust data.

We are seeking a candidate with 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer supporting data pipelines and workflow orchestration tools. Experience with healthcare or revenue cycle data is preferred and will set you apart.

Experience working with PII/PHI/HIPAA data is required. Experience working with healthcare data is also required. A Wisconsin resident is preferred for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
Build and maintain the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources
Work with business and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems and assist with data-related technical issues
Ensure timely processing of daily batch processes

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, and work experience
Experience in Python and libraries such as pandas, NumPy, dask, polars, etc.
Experience and proficiency using Linux, shell scripting
Experience with Git or other source code control tools
Experience with virtualization and containerization via docker
Experience with AWS cloud-based services, especially Athena, EC2, RDS, Lambda
Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
Experience with cloud-based data warehousing tools such as Redshift, Snowflake, etc.
Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Outstanding communication skills and the ability to be self-motivated and work with little supervision
