What this job can offer you

The Director of Global Payroll Services will be responsible for overseeing the global payroll services division, including HR Shared Services (HRSS), Benefits, Client Support, Client Enablement and Implementation. This role will lead the development and delivery of a world-class global payroll support services and customer service experience for both internal verticals and external clients.

In close collaboration with the Payroll Operations, Compliance, Implementation, Legal, and Tax teams, the Director will ensure a seamless, end-to-end payroll services process, delivering high-quality, compliant, and efficient payroll services across all regions. The Director will also be responsible for defining and executing the overarching strategy for the services vertical, developing a scalable team to support business growth, and enhancing the service offerings to meet evolving client needs.

You will be reporting to the VP of Payroll.

What you bring

  • Ideally extensive experience in a managing large in payroll or benefits industry and ideally in a growing start-up environment
  • Previous experience in a hyper-growth, tech start up that you specifically scaled into a large payroll operations is crucial
  • Clear understanding and experience on how automation, integration and scaling can directly impact workload
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact. Familiarity on the change that occurs in a start-up in the first four years and comfortable with that
  • You are passionate about the dignity of work, you are a kind leader, and you ask yourself, "what can I do to remote mundane and manual work for my team?"
  • You are passionate about growth and make data-driven, well-informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the overarching strategy for the Global Payroll Services division, ensuring alignment with the company’s global business objectives.
  • Lead the development and scaling of the services division to support the company’s rapid growth and expansion into new regions & service offerings.
  • Act as a thought leader within the organisation, driving innovation, transformation, and best-in-class service delivery across global payroll support services.
  • Foster strong collaboration with cross-functional teams including Payroll Operations, Compliance, Legal, Tax, and Implementation to ensure integrated and efficient service delivery.
  • Drive the development and growth of the global payroll services team, ensuring the team structure and capabilities align with current and future business needs.
  • Lead efforts to build a continuous improvement & high-performance culture within the division, focusing on talent development, leadership coaching, and employee engagement.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and alignment between service teams and other business functions.
  • Strong collaboration with our Product team to improve the overall user experience on payroll
  • Directing and Supporting the growth of the Implementation Team

At first glance our salary bands seem quite wide - here is some context. At Remote we have international operations and a globally distributed workforce. We use geo ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in various markets while we hiring globally.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $116,800 to $164,250. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
