As a ..... you will be responsible for supporting the Finance, Accounting, and Financial Operations functions across the African region. The role focuses on providing accurate financial support, operational oversight, and commercial insights, while partnering with key stakeholders to enable sound decision-making and effective financial control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business & Stakeholder Support
  • Act as a finance point of contact for assigned departments within the business
  • Support stakeholders by translating financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance teams
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams across the African region

Finance & Accounting Support

  • Assist the Accounting team with the month-end close process for South Africa and Nigeria
  • Manage the supplier payment process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to controls
  • Manage the debtors and collections process, including follow-ups and reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly management reports, including variance analysis and commentary
  • Support cost tracking, margin analysis, and ongoing performance monitoring

Commercial Finance Support

  • Assist with pricing reviews, cost analysis, and profitability assessments
  • Analyse financial and operational trends, identifying variances, risks, and opportunities
  • Develop a strong understanding of key business drivers, revenue streams, and KPIs

Business Operations Support

  • Provide oversight and support for merchant reconciliation and settlement processes
  • Assist in ensuring accuracy and completeness of transaction-level reporting
  • Support strong financial controls within payment and settlement operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; professional qualification (CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years’ progressive experience in finance, with significant exposure to fintech, payments, or financial services
  • Proven experience partnering with senior stakeholders in a high-volume, transaction-driven environment
  • Strong understanding of payment flows, merchant acquiring, settlement cycles, and transaction-based revenue models (e.g., MDR, interchange, gateway fees)
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close, revenue recognition, and reconciliation of high-volume transactions
  • Demonstrated experience in margin analysis, pricing reviews, cost optimisation, and profitability analysis
  • Strong financial modelling and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyse large datasets and translate insights into commercial recommendations
  • Experience strengthening financial controls within regulated financial services or payments environment
  • Exposure to multi-country operations, ideally within African markets
  • Proven ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
