The Salesforce legal team delivers innovative, trusted and outstanding legal services to advance and protect Salesforce's interests while creating a fulfilling legal work environment.

Role Description:

We are seeking an exceptional leader who will join the global employment legal team to lead a team of amazing lawyers and compliance professionals covering the JAPAC region (India, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand) to provide world-class employment law support to the human resources organization, the business, and other stakeholders across the JAPAC region. This position reports to the SVP & Associate General Counsel, Global Labor & Employment.

The successful candidate is a natural and proven leader with a unique ability to bring people and process together - across time zones, languages, and complex business problems - and will lead strategy & execution for the JAPAC employment region, while also being a key voice on the global employment legal leadership team. They will balance people leadership with business results, diligently working to build the trust of internal stakeholders while never taking their eye off the goal of a happy, healthy and high-functioning team who are inspired and motivated by their leader and the mission of the global employment legal team.

Team Leadership

Manage and mentor a high-performing team of senior employment legal and compliance professionals located in Sydney, Australia and Bangalore, India who support the JAPAC region and global partners.

Foster a “can do” positive spirit and keep the team motivated when faced with adversity, ambiguity, intractable problems, or unanticipated change.

Have a proven track record of fostering a team culture based on trust, collaboration, mutual respect, and shared understanding, as someone who genuinely cares about the people you lead.

Strategic Partnership

Be a trusted legal partner to the relevant internal groups to navigate sensitive and wide-ranging issues from noncompetition agreements, hiring and recruiting issues, AI adoption, discipline, investigations, wage and hour, leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, terminations, workforce restructuring activities, new country expansion, and company strategic initiatives.

Transform and scale the team’s ability to support increased and overlapping M&A activity.

Policy & Compliance: Partner with various internal stakeholders to determine strategy and approach on employment-related policies, guidelines, trainings, and processes with an approach that balances pragmatism, risk, and compliance.

Inquiries & Litigation: Investigate and respond to demand letters and administrative or governmental inquiries, and manage labor and employment litigation matters with internal and external litigation counsel and derive data-driven insights from such litigation.

Regional Support: Provide legal support for our JAPAC Employee Success and employee relations business partners, partnering with three regional leaders and particularly taking a hands-on approach to guiding and overseeing Indian operations.

Required Skills/Experience:

Law degree

Licensure: Must be licensed to practice law in Australia

Specialized Legal Expertise: Significant experience working in in-house legal department(s) across the JAPAC region and in particular, experience and proven track record of working closely with Indian operations.

Professional Background: 15+ years combined employment law experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably in a leadership role as an employment lawyer in a multinational technology company.

Proven experience managing a high-performing team with operational excellence, including using data to drive advocacy and efficiency.

Excellent written/verbal communication and negotiation skills.

Experience using AI tools and familiarity with AI governance principles.

Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams.

Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude.

Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines, work flow, and team execution in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.

Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients.

Sound and practical business judgment.
