The Role:

Salesforce is seeking a high-calibre, strategic Senior Director of Government Affairs for India & Subcontinent. Salesforce's global government affairs team is a diverse group of dedicated (and fun!) professionals who lead the company’s engagement with government officials, legislators, regulators, and other political stakeholders, shaping the company’s positions on public policy. As a key leader within the Global Government Affairs team, you will be the primary driver of Salesforce’s public policy strategy and government affairs in one of our most critical growth and international markets.

Reporting into the VP of Government Affairs of Asia Pacific and working closely with the CEO of South Asia, Salesforce and leadership team, the role will be responsible for building and expanding Salesforce’s interaction with national and local government officials, regulators, partners, and any stakeholders relevant to delivering government affairs advocacy objectives and business priorities at central and state level in the region.

The Senior Director, will be responsible for managing and executing external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with Salesforce’s objectives. You will facilitate high-level engagements between executives and key stakeholders, including legislature, regulatory, and industry association, to promote and advocate the company’s public policy objectives, aligned with business objectives.

The Senior Director will actively contribute to making the Global Government Affairs more impactful and recognized as a trusted business partner. You will also work collaboratively with others internal stakeholders, and business units to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. Specifically, the role will also be involved in creating, leading and executing government affairs strategy for public sector and regulated industries, in close collaboration with the business unit leadership.

Key job responsibilities:

Strategic Advocacy & Policy Leadership

  • Public policy advocacy covering issues such as cloud computing, AI, privacy, digital skilling, cyber security, digital sovereignty and other related technology matters.

  • Track and anticipate policy and legislative developments, identifying and prioritizing the issues relevant to Salesforce and developing campaigns to engage in policy related consultations, and proactively develop solutions to address these, work across functions within the organisation.

  • Represent Salesforce at major public policy forums positioning the company as a thought leader.

Government Relations & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for the Government of India, including MEITY, various ministries, and regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure and maintain high level and strategic connections between Salesforce South Asia business leaders and government.

  • Build and maintain deep relationships with key stakeholders, including industry associations think tanks, and civil society organizations.

  • Build collaborative partnerships and coalitions across industry, trade associations and third-party groups.

Market Enablement & Business Growth

  • Enable business and sales opportunities, particularly regulated industries such as financial services and public sector, and executing a government affairs strategy that supports Salesforce’s business objectives in India.

  • Partner closely with Legal, Sales, and PR teams to ensure a unified approach to the Indian market and sub-continent.

Internal Strategy & Operational Alignment

  • Work across functions within the organisation to address policy challenges and develop solutions.

  • Execute a government affairs strategy that directly supports Salesforce’s overarching business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 16+ years of experience in government affairs, with hands-on experience in regulatory approvals and working with central and state governments

  • In-depth knowledge of government policies, processes, and regulatory requirements, particularly relating to the technology sector

  • Established and strong relationships with officials and departments within the government.
