Team
Our team at Salesforce is responsible for a modern, natively multi-tenanted transactional database system catering to mission critical workloads of our customers. Our underlying building blocks of database compute, storage and backup services run in public cloud and interplay together in our stack to provide superpowers that helps our largest customers with demanding business needs. We are looking to reimagine the way we make our services available for different enterprise-wide relational database use-cases.
Job Description
We are looking for senior engineering talent to deliver on our roadmaps for database cloud store management and archival services promising high availability, durability, recoverability, performance and scale as a seamless interoperable resilient solution. Candidate must have strong distributed systems knowledge, public cloud store skills, interest in system programming with exceptional software engineering skills, and relish the opportunity to work on very complex, highly concurrent, highly scalable and resilient systems. Database systems and/or storage domain knowledge is an added advantage. Practical knowledge for challenges regarding clustering solutions, hands-on experience in deploying your code in the public cloud environments is highly desired. Candidate will join a team of world class, highly motivated software engineers and database experts to architect, design and develop robust and highly scalable software products to support large mission critical systems at petabyte scale.
You responsibilities include:
- Own design, architecture and development to deliver technical outcomes on all requirements of performance, scale, availability, security and quality standards
- Help with backlog planning, cross-team dependency planning and work with the team to execute on the plan.
- Interact with broader technical teams to integrate the projects/features and collaborate tightly on architecture, design, code and test strategy reviews
- Demonstrate engineering expertise by working closely with senior architects, and engineering leadership to execute on the strategy for the store services areas and execute the roadmaps flawlessly
- Own and resolve Customer issues with utmost urgency and adhering to customer trust and service ownership mindset
- Drive cross team collaborative work environment with other scrum teams that fosters autonomy, innovation, learning, respect and transparency while holding a high bar for delivery
Required skills:
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Experience designing, developing scalable, resilient and fault tolerant transactional and distributed systems in enterprise production environments. Experience on storage and/or databases systems is an advantage
- Familiar with Agile development methodology and committed to continual improvement of team performance
- Experience in SaaS development environment, cloud and container technologies. Building and operating clusters is an advantage with working knowledge of associated tools and technologies
- Good knowledge of Kubernetes and working with APIs provided by various public cloud vendors to handle data is highly desired
- Highly skilled in Java or C/C++ in a Unix/ Linux Environment, with an understanding of modern object-oriented programming techniques and design patterns
- Experience in building and leveraging telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence
- Track record of delivering innovative and complex features for a major software system preferably in public cloud
- 20+ years in software development which includes experience in varying aspects of development cycle, including design, coding, testing, service deployment, and performance characterisation, and possessing 15+ years of distributed systems and relevant area experience
