As the Manager of Engineering, you will lead the Financial Services Cloud Engineering team. You will be responsible for helping build and deliver the new age applications for the Financial Services industry. The Manager will manage the day-to-day aspects of the FSC engineering team including design, architecture, features, data needs guidance with internal partners and with executives. This leader will also lead people management, general guidance, and career mentorship aspects of the team including directing work assignments, portfolio roadmaps, influencing the balance of scope-budget-timelines, customer communications, strategic planning, and demonstrating agile expertise with functional-technical-operational processes are some of the other key capabilities for this role.

Some of the other things you will be doing include:

  • Lead and support the Cloud Platform infrastructure engineering team, helping to take the ideas from initial phases to implementation.

  • Work closely with product management and refine the requirements

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other product management, user research, user interface, design, and support teams to build a cohesive strategy for Tableau’s analytics needs

  • Earn the trust of your team, and challenge them to grow

  • Lead engineering discussions and mentor others on technical implementation, engineering best practices, and career development

  • Work with other leaders in product engineering to leverage and improve our design system and overall architecture

  • Know when to lead from the front, and when to step back and let others take the reins

  • Collaborating with members of your team and others, bringing together the best ideas, and pushing back on the others

  • Play a pivotal role in building and improving our engineering standards, best practices, and rigor

  • Provide guidance and support across multiple teams of highly skilled engineers

  • Contribute and work towards reshaping our data engineering tools, interfaces, and systems into a highly reliable and available service offering

  • Investigate and research infrastructure tooling issues, resolving the issue and making recommendations for future solutions

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, STEM, IT or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of professional experience in development of a SaaS product.

  • 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams

  • Function independently and as part of a team under aggressive deadlines in a (really) fast-paced environment, convey a strong professional image, exhibit interest and positive attitude toward all assigned work, and strive for continued improvement

  • Experience managing developers’ full-stack teams.

  • Understanding and knowledge of c++, java, typescript, python, AWS Services, and DevOps practices such as CI/CD

  • Ability to work effectively and manage partnerships with all areas and members of the business as well as all levels of the organization.

  • Thought leadership, a curiosity of business and engineering processes, and drive to keep pace with the new and emerging trends, technologies, and innovations.

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies

  • Experience in budgeting, project structuring, vendor and partner management, staff structuring, and negotiations.

  • Strong situational analysis, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Impressive presentation skills and experience communicating and convincing audiences from analysts to senior leaders and C-suite.

  • Experience scaling products to millions of users

  • Strong automation skills

  • Building scaled service to run in a 24/7 environments with SLA

  • Aptitude to learn new technologies.

  • Security best practices and working with security teams to guard our most valuable assets
