About the Team:
The campaigns team is the engine behind 4 billion+ daily notifications - spanning Push, SMS, WhatsApp, Email, InApps, and beyond - and we build every piece of it in-house.
You'll own end-to-end feature development, architecting high-performance, resilient infrastructure that powers personalized, context-aware engagement at a scale most engineers never get close to.
Our Stats and Automation platforms process billions of real-time campaign events, driving intelligent targeting and workflow automation that directly impacts client retention and lifetime value - today, not someday.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering for Campaigns, the Senior Engineering Manager will lead the Campaigns Inbound teams based in Bangalore and serve as a key leader within MoEngage's Campaigns ecosystem.
In this role, you will manage a team of 20 software engineers across two pods, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the following Inbound product modules:

InApp Messaging

On-Site Messaging (OSM)

Cards

Personalization
These modules span highly scalable and reliable backend APIs as well as frontend campaign editor interfaces. You will partner closely with Product, SRE, UX, Data, and Platform teams to drive new feature development and continuous engineering improvements.
Beyond technical delivery, you will play a pivotal role in attracting top engineering talent, developing your team, and sustaining high performance — ensuring that Campaigns Inbound remains a world-class engineering organization.
Requirements:
Education & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

12+ years of overall software engineering experience, with 5+ years in engineering management or technical leadership
Leadership & Communication

Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams across multiple pods or workstreams

Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate technical strategy, trade-offs, and progress clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders

Proven experience in hiring, onboarding, and retaining top engineering talent
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Strong track record of collaborating effectively across Product, DevOps, QA, UX, and Platform teams

Experience partnering with product managers on roadmap development, prioritization, and sprint planning
Technical Depth

Solid hands-on background in Java and/or Python, including relevant frameworks and ecosystem tools

Strong proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)

Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems and infrastructure

Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform — GCP, AWS, or Azure

Ability to meaningfully review and provide guidance on frontend engineering work
Engineering Excellence

Proven track record of driving engineering best practices, including code quality, system reliability, and performance at scale

Familiarity with and ability to champion Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices and security best practices across the team
