Meesho
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Meesho is India’s fastest-growing internet commerce company, serving over 160 million customers.
As the competitive landscape in Indian e-commerce intensifies, we’re investing in building a world-
class strategic intelligence capability to sharpen how we allocate capital, set prices, plan long-range
strategy, and respond to market shifts.
We’re looking for a founding leader to build this function from the ground up. You will be responsible
for developing the systems, methodologies, and team that give Meesho’s leadership a continuously
updated, outside-in view of the competitive and market landscape — turning fragmented signals into
decision-grade insight.
This is a high-visibility, high-autonomy role. You will work directly with senior leadership and across
category, finance, and product teams. If you’ve spent years building expertise in market estimation,
data triangulation, and insight generation as a consultant or researcher, and you’re now ready to
own a function end-to-end inside a high-growth company — this role was designed for you
What You’ll Do
- Design and operationalize a multi-source data collection and analysis framework covering the Indian e-commerce and adjacent commerce landscape.
- Develop standardized methodologies for market estimation, competitive signal triangulation, and financial benchmarking.
- Create and maintain competitor economic models, including shadow P&L estimation at category level, using published financials, market data, field inputs, and internal benchmarks.
- Establish structured tracking of international e-commerce peers to identify playbooks, strategic patterns, and early indicators of market shifts relevant to India.
- Deliver decision-grade competitive inputs to leadership across planning cycles, quarterly reviews, pricing decisions, and investor preparation.
- Build the connective tissue between external intelligence and internal decision-making —designing output formats, cadences, and dissemination mechanisms that fit how the organization actually makes decisions.
- Synthesize complex, often ambiguous market signals into crisp, actionable briefs that executives can act on quickly.
- Own the external benchmarking dimension of strategic planning and long-range forecasting.
- Hire, mentor, and lead a small, high-caliber team of analysts focused on data collection, modelling, and insight generation.
- Manage relationships with external data partners, field research agencies, and market consultants.
- Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted tools and automation into the intelligence workflow
Who You Are
- 7–12 years of professional experience, with a significant portion in market research, management consulting, or strategy roles where competitive analysis, market sizing, and financial estimation were core to your work.
- You have worked at strategy / market insights practice of a consulting firm (MBB, Kearney)or Nielsen, or comparable market intelligence You deeply understand how market data is collected, how estimates are constructed from incomplete inputs, and how to generate insights from ambiguous signals.
- Alternatively, you may have built this expertise in-house at an e-commerce, consumer internet, FMCG, or fintech company in a strategy, analytics, or market intelligence function.
- You understand P&L construction and can think in financial terms — take rates, contribution margins, unit economics, cost structures. You are comfortable building financial models from first principles.
- You are ready to transition from advisory / research into an operator role where you own the function, build the team, and are accountable for outcomes.
- Estimation & triangulation:You can take multiple imperfect data points and converge on a defensible view. You know which sources to trust, which to cross-reference, and which to discard.
- Insight generation:You tell decision-makers what it means and what to do about it. You write crisp, structured briefs, not academic papers.
- Financial modelling:You are comfortable with scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and building models that accommodate uncertainty.
- Stakeholder management:You can frame insights for executive audiences, build structured intake with cross-functional teams, and manage external partners and agency relationships.
- Network:You bring (or can quickly build) an industry network — former colleagues, market consultants, industry contacts — that serves as a legitimate source of market intelligence.
- High agency — you thrive in ambiguity and can build something from nothing without waiting for perfect inputs or detailed instructions.
- Intellectual honesty — you frame outputs with explicit confidence levels, distinguish estimates from facts, and never oversell precision.
- Decision-oriented — you measure your own success by whether your work changes a decision, not by the volume of analysis you produce.
