About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Jira Administrator with hands-on expertise in managing and scaling large enterprise-level Jira implementations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, configuring, optimizing, and maintaining Jira (Cloud/Data Center) environments supporting thousands of users and multiple business functions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams — including Engineering, Product, QA, and Business Operations — to streamline workflows, integrate Atlassian tools, and enable data-driven process improvements.

A Day in the Life

● Lead end-to-end Jira implementations, migrations, and upgrades for large user bases and complex project structures.

● Must be able to understand the business problem context and be able to architect the Jira processes end to end without much intervention.

● Administer and maintain Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence environments.

● Configure custom workflows, fields, schemes, permissions, and automations aligned to organizational needs.

● Optimize Jira performance, scalability, and usage governance across teams.

● Integrate Jira with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab), Slack, ServiceNow, Salesforce, or other systems using REST APIs or Atlassian Connect.

● Implement automation using Atlassian Automation, ScriptRunner, or JMWE to improve operational efficiency.

● Define and enforce Jira standards, hierarchy (epics → stories → tasks), and data integrity across instances.

● Develop and maintain governance frameworks for large-scale Jira deployments.

● Partner with stakeholders to drive tool adoption, training, and documentation.

● Design advanced dashboards and reports using JQL, eazyBI, or Power BI/Tableau.

● Provide insights on project progress, sprint velocity, and resource allocation.

● Manage user roles, permissions, and access control.

● Must be great collaborator, and adept at striking a balance between delivering Jira processes incrementally vs. solving the larger Enterprise business problem

● Ensure compliance with enterprise security and data management policies.

What You Need

● 5–10+ years of experience as a Jira Administrator, with at least 3+ years handling enterprise-scale implementations

● Strong knowledge of Atlassian suite (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Bitbucket).

● Hands-on experience with Jira Cloud or Data Center setup, administration, and optimization.

● Expertise in workflow design, JQL scripting, custom fields, and automation rules.

● Experience in migrations (Server to Cloud or Data Center).

● Familiarity with third-party apps/plugins like ScriptRunner, Tempo, BigPicture, Advanced Roadmaps.

● Good understanding of Agile, Scrum, and ITSM frameworks.

● Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

● Atlassian certifications preferred (ACP-610 / ACP-520 / ACP-420 / ACP-120).

● Experience working in multi-project, global environments with diverse user groups.
