Role Overview
The Senior Director, Professional Services – HLS Domain Architect is a senior, client-facing leader and thought partner for Icertis Contract Intelligence and Vera AI–enabled transformations in the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector. This role advises senior business and technology executives across pharma, biotech, medical devices, healthcare providers, payers, and health-tech on modernizing contracting and obligation management for complex products, services, and ecosystem partnerships. You will own end-to-end business and solution architecture for HLS use cases, shaping programs that deliver measurable outcomes in compliance, speed-to-market, revenue integrity, and risk management.
Working closely with Engagement Leads, Solution Architects, Product, and Engineering, you will design and co-deliver AI-first programs that connect Icertis with core HLS systems such as R&D and clinical platforms, safety and quality systems, ERP, CRM, pricing and market access tools, and provider/payer administration platforms.
Where You’ll Work – Travel
Location: United States (remote or office-based, per company policy).
Travel: Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for key workshops, program reviews, and executive engagements.
The Team
You will report into the Professional Services organization and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, PreSales/Solution Advisory, Delivery, and Customer Success to ensure HLS customers realize the full value of Icertis and Vera AI across their contract and obligation lifecycles.

The Senior Director, Professional Services – HLS Domain Architect is a senior client-facing leader responsible for shaping and delivering AI-powered contract intelligence transformations for healthcare and life sciences customers. This role advises executives across pharma, biotech, medical devices, providers, and payers on modernizing contracting and obligation management using Icertis Contract Intelligence and Vera AI. The architect owns end-to-end business and solution architecture for key HLS use cases—such as clinical trial and research agreements, CRO and vendor contracts, market access and payer agreements, provider and distribution contracts, and rebate/discount programs—while ensuring regulatory, compliance, and patient data requirements are met. Working with cross-functional teams, this leader designs and co-delivers complex, multi-country programs that improve compliance, speed-to-market, and commercial performance.
What You’ll Bring – Required Qualifications
18+ years of experience in Healthcare and Life Sciences, including at least 12+ years in solution leadership roles (domain architect, program lead, or equivalent) for large transformation programs at global HLS enterprises or major consulting/SI firms.
Deep hands-on knowledge of HLS business domains such as pharma and biotech (R&D, clinical, medical affairs, commercial), medical devices and diagnostics, healthcare providers and systems, payers, or health-tech.
Strong understanding of how contracts underpin the HLS value chain—e.g., clinical and research agreements, CRO/vendor contracts, licensing and collaboration deals, payer and market access agreements, provider and distribution contracts, rebates and chargebacks, and data-sharing agreements.
Demonstrated experience leading or governing large-scale CLM or contract-intelligence programs—preferably with Icertis Contract Intelligence or other leading CLM platforms—within HLS.
Proven track record architecting and integrating solutions across CLM and key HLS platforms such as ERP, CRM, R&D/clinical systems, PV/safety, quality, pricing and market access tools, and data platforms.
Practical understanding of HLS regulatory and compliance drivers (e.g., GxP, anti-kickback/anti-bribery, transparency and spend reporting, data privacy and patient data, safety reporting, promotional compliance) and how they translate into contractual controls and data.
Strong grasp of GenAI/LLM concepts (prompting, retrieval, orchestration, agents) and how to safely apply them to contracts and documents in regulated HLS environments.
Demonstrated Senior Director-level success in Professional Services or consulting—owning solution strategy, executive stakeholder management, and delivery of multi-country or multi-region programs.
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills—able to simplify complex architectures and regulatory constraints for VP/CXO audiences and align business, medical, compliance, and IT stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Engineering, Business, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MS, PharmD, MD, MBA) preferred.
Bonus Points – Preferred Qualifications
Experience working at or with global pharma, biotech, medical device companies, large provider systems, payers, or specialist HLS consulting/SI firms on digital, compliance, or operating model transformation.
Hands-on experience delivering large remediation or compliance programs (e.g., transparency/spend, promotional compliance, safety and quality, data and privacy, or audit remediation) where contracts and obligations are central.
Familiarity with Icertis certifications and leading cloud, data, or AI platform certifications.
Experience with major HLS platforms (e.g., Veeva, Medidata, PV/safety systems, quality management systems) and their data/contract models.
Prior experience at Icertis or within the Icertis partner ecosystem is a plus.
OTE: $203,000 to $250,000 base salary
Pay offered will vary based on job-related factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities. In addition to the base salary and annual sales target incentive bonus, an equity component is included in the compensation package.

What You’ll Do
HLS strategy and domain leadership
Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior stakeholders across R&D, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Procurement, Legal, Compliance, and IT for CLM and contract intelligence initiatives in HLS.
Shape multi-year transformation roadmaps that leverage Icertis and Vera AI across use cases such as clinical trial and investigator agreements, CRO and vendor contracts, market access and payer agreements, provider and distribution contracts, rebates and pricing, GPO/IDN agreements, safety and quality-related contracts, and real-world evidence partnerships.
Bring an informed perspective on HLS regulatory, compliance, and risk themes (e.g., GxP, promotional compliance, anti-kickback/anti-bribery, transparency and spend reporting, data privacy and patient data, safety reporting) and translate them into contract data, process, and control requirements.
Business and solution architecture
Own the end-to-end CLM and contract intelligence architecture for HLS clients, spanning ICI, Vera apps, and key platforms such as ERP, CRM, R&D and clinical systems, PV/safety, quality, pricing and contracting, data platforms, and document management.
Define target-state processes and operating models for how contracts and obligations are authored, negotiated, approved, executed, and monitored across the HLS value chain (R&D, clinical, launch, commercial, and post-market).
Translate business outcomes into solution designs, configuration choices, AI use cases, and integration patterns that leverage Icertis best practices while accounting for HLS-specific constraints like regulatory audits, data residency, patient data protections, and complex approvals.
Sales advisory and program inception
Lead late-stage sales and deal shaping as the senior HLS architect—validating scope, solution options, delivery feasibility, and risk posture for strategic opportunities.
Develop compelling HLS-specific value propositions and business cases, linking contract intelligence to metrics such as time-to-start for trials, speed-to-market, discount and rebate governance, revenue leakage reduction, compliance risk reduction, and ecosystem collaboration.
Ensure smooth handover from Sales/PreSales into Professional Services, with clearly documented assumptions, constraints, high-level designs, and success measures.
Delivery ownership and governance
Serve as solution owner/architect across multiple complex HLS programs, maintaining architectural integrity, roadmap alignment, and adherence to Icertis implementation and security best practices.
Partner with Engagement Leads and Program Managers to shape delivery approaches that balance global regulations and standards with regional and local operational nuances across multiple markets.
Support steering committees and governance forums, clearly communicating risks, trade-offs, mitigation plans, and progress toward business outcomes.
GenAI and contract intelligence innovation
Identify, prioritize, and design LLM-/agentic AI use cases for HLS that leverage contract and related data, such as:
AI-assisted review of clinical, market access, and provider agreements against policies, playbooks, and compliance standards.
Automated obligation extraction and monitoring for trial obligations, safety reporting, SLAs, discount/rebate terms, and transparency requirements.
AI-driven insights into contract portfolios for risk, exposure, pricing, and commercial optimization.
Guide HLS clients on opportunities and guardrails of GenAI in regulated environments, including validation, explainability, data privacy, and human-in-the-loop controls.
Provide structured feedback to Product and Engineering on HLS market needs to influence Vera AI, industry data models, and out-of-the-box scenarios.
Assets, accelerators, and enablement
Develop and refine HLS-specific playbooks, data models, templates, and reference architectures covering key contract types (e.g., clinical trial agreements, CRO/vendor MSAs, payer and rebate agreements, distribution and GPO/IDN contracts, outcomes-based agreements).
Mentor and enable global Professional Services teams on HLS processes, controls, and architecture patterns to ensure consistent and scalable delivery quality.
Collaborate with Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success on thought leadership, customer stories, and best practices that showcase HLS contract intelligence outcomes.
Global and cross-functional collaboration
Partner with regional Icertis teams to support multi-country HLS deployments with complex regulatory, language, and data residency requirements.
Work closely with alliance and partner ecosystems (e.g., major SIs, cloud providers, HLS platform vendors) to design cohesive end-to-end solutions and ensure smooth joint delivery.
Act as a senior voice of the customer for HLS within Icertis, influencing roadmap and services strategy
