The Role
We are looking for a Ph.D. level immunologist with a strong background in autoimmune diseases to join our growing Disease Biology team in Cambridge. The individual will work to evaluate and innovate new therapeutic concepts for treating autoimmune diseases, lead and drive HiFiBiO’s antibody drug discovery programs, lead projects from the early stage of hit identification through IND filing and beyond, and drive strategic initiatives in the I&I space. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the Disease Biology team to efficiently progress the projects through lead optimization and clinical candidate selection.


The ideal candidate will be a creative, motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible scientist, with the ability to work across different parts of the company. The position involves collaboration with protein science, in-vivo biology, single-cell sequencing, bioinformatics, translational and clinical teams to execute and advance HiFiBiO’s drug discovery and translational research. This role will include project leadership, strategic evaluation, and hands-on laboratory activities. The candidate will be a key contributor to the team’s effort to identify and nominate new antibody drug targets and capable to design / generate high-quality data. This is an onsite position in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities:
  • Leading drug discovery programs from hit identification through development candidate nomination.
  • Evaluation and nomination of novel targets and therapeutic approaches in the areas of autoimmune diseases and immuno-oncology.
  • Prioritizing studies to meet timelines and make critical go/no go decisions for project progression.
  • Designing and/or executing assays for profiling and characterization of antibodies for lead and candidate selection and to characterize the mechanism of action.
  • Designing and/or executing functional assays for human T cells, B cells, NK cells, Tregs, dendritic cells, and macrophages.
  • Diligently and accurately ensuring data recording in the company Electronic Lab Notebook system.
  • Maintaining advanced knowledge of current and future trends in autoimmune diseases and immuno-oncology through review of literature and networking.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Immunology or a similar field.
  • Postdoctoral research experience in industry or academia is desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong background in human and mouse immunology required. Expertise with autoimmune diseases strongly preferred.
  • Project leadership experience in industry preferred.
  • Experience in designing novel bispecific antibody formats is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in multicolor flow cytometry and other routine immunological assays.
  • Experience with mouse autoimmune and inflammatory disease models or tumor models, PK/PD evaluation, and checkpoint inhibitor therapies.
  • Ability to write and execute a technical/experimental plan and draft SOPs.
  • Experience with data analysis software, such as Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, and Electronic Laboratory Notebook data recording.
  • Ability to work to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactiveness in identifying roadblocks and seeking solutions alone or with the help of team members
  • Strong team-working skills.
  • Strong desire for innovation with a can-and-will do approach.
  • High-impact publications in relevant areas of expertise.
