Staff Software Engineer - Harness Cloud Backend
Harness: AI-Native Software Delivery Platform
Position Summary
This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a high-impact component at a rapidly growing startup. In this role, you will focus on the Harness Cloud infrastructure, which serves as the foundation for various Harness products. You will be responsible for architecting, scaling, and securing the cloud platform that fuels Harness's Continuous Integration (CI), Security Testing Orchestration (STO), Infrastructure as Code (IAC), Cloud Developer Environments (CDE), and other essential products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to scale and secure the Harness Cloud platform, including lifecycle management of a large fleet of bare-metal and Virtual Machines
- Design, develop, and maintain critical cloud infrastructure components in a fast-paced, quality-conscious environment. Our technology stack is built on Golang, Java, Kubernetes, MongoDB, Redis, etc.
- Author technical specifications and architecture documents
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems across distributed infrastructure
- Perform peer reviews of specifications, designs, and code
- Work alongside Cloud Engineers and cross-functional teams to diagnose/troubleshoot production issues
About You
- 6+ years of experience with Java, GoLang, and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud providers such as GCP or AWS
- Strong background in distributed systems architecture and implementation
- Experience with VM/Container orchestration technologies such as Nomad
- Experience in as many of the following areas:
- Building and operating containerized applications at scale (K8s, Docker)
- Working with MongoDB and Redis, including indexing and query optimization
- Cloud infrastructure automation and orchestration
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree or professional experience; advanced degree is a plus

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $225,000 annually. Salary is determined by a combination of factors including location, level, relevant experience, and skills. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
