At Genmab, we’re committed to building extra[not]ordinary futures together, by developing antibody products and pioneering, knock-your-socks-off therapies that change the lives of patients and the future of cancer treatment and serious diseases. From our people who are caring, candid, and impact-driven to our business, which is innovative and rooted in science, we believe that being proudly unique, determined to be our best, and authentic is essential to fulfilling our purpose.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and talented scientist to join our Structural Biology Center. As a key member of the Antibody Discovery Technologies department at Genmab, you will play a vital role in advancing our protein structural biology capabilities. Specifically, we are looking for an individual with expertise in computational protein design and experience with cryo-electron microscopy. In this role, you will collaborate closely with protein chemists and protein engineers to drive innovation and contribute to the development of novel antibody therapeutics targeting a range of diseases.

If you are an enthusiastic and driven scientist looking to make a difference in the field of structural biology, we encourage you to apply. Join us in our mission to develop innovative therapies and improve patients' lives.

Responsibilities

  • As a Scientist in Computational and Experimental Structural Biology at Genmab, you will play a pivotal role in translating protein structural information and knowledge to novel therapeutic modalities and advance drug discovery.

  • You utilize your expertise in computational methods to model and analyze protein structures, contributing valuable insights into their function and potential therapeutic applications.

  • You validate protein structure models generated through both experimental and computational techniques, ensuring their accuracy and reliability for downstream applications.

  • You pro-actively initiate and maintain relationships with contract research organizations (CROs) and other vendors involved in protein structure determination services, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality data and services.

  • You will coordinate and lead projects aimed at generating protein structural data relevant to our research projects and align with internal teams and external collaborators to ensure project objectives are met effectively.

  • You take a service-oriented approach in your work, prioritizing the needs of internal stakeholders and project teams to deliver timely and accurate results.

Requirements

  • A PhD in experimental and/or computational structural biology or a closely related field.

  • You are passionate and knowledgeable about structural protein engineering and thrive in a biotech environment focused on antibody biology and therapeutics.

  • Experience implementing integrative structural biology approaches to solve complex research challenges.

  • Proficiency in experimental structural biology techniques such as cryo-EM (preferred) or X-ray crystallography. Sound knowledge in protein chemistry, structural biology sample (EM grids) preparation, screening, optimization, and data collection strategy design are crucial. CryoEM data processing and model building experience with Relion and Coot is a requirement. Experience in CCP4 (refmac), Phenix and/or ChimeraX (ISOLDE) packages would be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with computational protein modeling and design software packages is essential. Hands-on experience in Schrödinger BioLuminate (or MOE) and Rosetta is desired. Experience with MD simulations (Desmond, OpenMM and/or Gromacs), FoldX would be an advantage. Experience with Linux is essential, AWS would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

  • Needs good communication skills in the English language, which is the primary language spoken at Genmab.

About You

  • You are passionate about our purpose and genuinely care about our mission to transform the lives of patients through innovative cancer treatment
  • You bring rigor and excellence to all that you do. You are a fierce believer in our rooted-in-science approach to problem-solving
  • You are a generous collaborator who can work in teams with diverse backgrounds
  • You are determined to do and be your best and take pride in enabling the best work of others on the team
  • You are not afraid to grapple with the unknown and be innovative
  • You have experience working in a fast-growing, dynamic company (or a strong desire to)
  • You work hard and are not afraid to have a little fun while you do so
