Your Role: We are looking for an innovation-centric Senior Software Engineer, Application Development, R&D Digital Products to join our IT R&D (Research & Development) Team who is passionate about Digital Transformation in modern environments. The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and implement software applications to support R&D business requirements. The Senior Software Engineer will also be responsible for leading the development team, execution, providing technical guidance, and ensuring that the Product-oriented-delivery is executed on time and within budget. The Senior Software Engineer will support Research, Discovery, and Development activities, such as design and development of core modules R&D Platforms and will be involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle such as reviewing functional specifications, design, development, analysis, unit testing, code reviews and release management.

This position will be based out of our Princeton, New Jersey office and 60% onsite.

Your Responsibility:

  • Develop software applications and systems used by the R&D Organization and provide application solutions tailored for R&D functions such as Research Informatics, SDMS (Scientific Data Management System), Lab Management Systems, Lab and Data Integrations, Research Data products, Pathology, Imaging, Pharmacology, Development Operations etc.

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy highly interactive and data driven web applications, applications and solutions. Partner with R&D IT POD leadership to drive requirements sessions and translate them into scalable code modules.

  • Lead the custom development & maintenance of applications in different IT R&D functional areas. Apply good technical practices and contribute to the application architecture with a focus on scalability, maintainability, security, and performance.

  • Engage with cross functional business & data science stakeholders on agile prototyping to demonstrate the art of possible and find creative solutions for complex data use cases.

  • Design and write unit tests and participate in code reviews. Participate in sprint planning process and assist in managing backlog/prioritization in JIRA boards along with robust documentation in confluence.

  • Collaborate with the software quality assurance team to test the system functionality. Provide diagnostic support and fix defects as needed. Provide technical support for existing product releases.

  • Engage with vendor resources on various development projects and provide solution oversight to ensure best practices are followed.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including colleagues from Data & Analytics, Data Science & AI and Infrastructure Platform Engineering teams, Technical Product Owners, Technical Delivery leads, developers, data engineers, visualization engineers, data scientists, AI/ML engineers, for strategies on capabilities & services, understand R&D domain-specific requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.

  • Ensure R&D digital products meet both Genmab quality and compliance guidelines, GxP compliance, industry regulations including GDPR.

  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing within the IT R&D Engineering team. Play a pivotal role in enabling application development within the R&D ecosystem at Genmab that serves to empower our scientists and researchers in R&D.

  • Research, learn, and utilize new technologies across the R&D application spectrum on an ongoing basis. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of different data technologies & industry trends that may be of interest and beneficial to Genmab.

Your Qualifications:

  • Experience in Life Sciences, Biotech or Pharma industry is a must have.

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in software design and development, and 3+ years experience working with Agile Product delivery teams.

  • Proficient in the fundamentals of software design principles, patterns, and practices. Experience as a full-stack developer writing well-designed and high performing easy to maintain code.

  • Must have significant development experience in Java, Python or similar. Must have strong technical knowledge of React, Angular.js, and other JavaScript frameworks. Knowledge of AWS Cloud services such as EC2, EKS, RDS, SNS, SQS, Lambda, S3, ALB, ECR, EFS, EBS, KMS, DynamoDB, IAM, Management console, is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Big Data querying tools, such as Pig, Hive, Impala, etc. Knowledge of relational databases, including SQL queries, data modeling, design.

  • Must have strong technical knowledge of building REST Services.

  • Proficient with CI/CD tools like AWS CodePipeline, Terraform IaC, Terraform Automation and Collaboration software etc.

  • Some experience working with test driven design, writing test cases against new features before implementation to address defects.

  • Prior exposure working with data science tools, operational systems using AI/ML, processing, integrations, and visualizations for generative AI projects.

  • Experience with Agile framework, DevSecOps processes, knowledge of cloud security, GxP, GDPR and other relevant regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent Communication skills, problem solving skills and technical expertise. Good documentation skills and ability to contribute to relevant software documents such as features description, acceptance criteria, design documents, release notes, etc. analyze and evaluate trade-offs in solving technical problems.

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP), Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional, or similar is preferred.

  • Certifications and experience in cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure or GCP are nice to have.

For US based candidates, the proposed salary band for this position is as follows:

$114,375.00---$190,625.00

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses.
