Role Summary

Reporting to the VP Finance (Singapore) and working closely with the Vietnam General Manager, this role will oversee day-to-day finance, statutory compliance, and financial reporting in Vietnam, while ensuring alignment with Group Finance policies and IFRS reporting standards. This position combines regulatory accountability, operational finance leadership, and cross-border coordination.

The role will also liaise with the Group Finance team in Singapore to ensure alignment with global accounting policies, group reporting standards (IFRS), and internal control processes.

In addition, the role will involve taking on ad-hoc tasks, special projects, and new scopes of responsibility as the business continues to evolve. This may include cross-functional initiatives, process transformation, and support for strategic and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance (Chief Accountant Responsibility)

  • Act as the officially appointed and registered Chief Accountant of the Vietnam entity.
  • Ensure full compliance with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS), tax laws, and statutory regulations.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of VAT, CIT, PIT, FCT, and other required tax filings.
  • Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, banks, and government bodies.
  • Lead annual statutory audits and tax inspections.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of accounting books and statutory records in accordance with Vietnamese regulations.

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Manage daily accounting operations, including AR/AP, GL postings, payroll accounting, and month-end close.
  • Oversee order-to-cash and procure-to-pay workflows.
  • Manage payments to suppliers, employees, and related parties.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting to Group Finance in Singapore.
  • Prepare VAS-to-IFRS reconciliations and group reporting packages.

Process, Controls & Systems

  • Strengthen internal controls and financial governance within the Vietnam entity.
  • Improve documentation, approval workflows, and reconciliation processes.
  • Support ERP or accounting system enhancements and automation initiatives.
  • Ensure proper intercompany transaction recording and reconciliation with Singapore, Japan and US entities.

Business & Operational Support

  • Partner with the Vietnam GM on budgeting, cost control, and cash flow management.
  • Monitor working capital, receivables collection, and supplier payments.
  • Support project-level cost tracking and operational finance analysis.
  • Provide financial insights to support business growth and expansion.

HR & Administrative Oversight

  • Work closely with HR on payroll processing, employment contracts, and labor compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and statutory contributions.
  • Support internal administrative matters related to finance and compliance.

Ad-hoc & Growth Initiatives

  • Participate in process improvements, system integration, and cross-border finance initiatives.
  • Support due diligence exercises and funding-related requirements when necessary.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as the Vietnam operations scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Must meet statutory requirements to be appointed as Chief Accountant (Kế toán trưởng) under Vietnamese law.
  • Valid Chief Accountant certification (Chứng chỉ Kế toán trưởng).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, engineering, or multinational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and tax regulations.
  • Experience with IFRS reporting or multinational group reporting preferred.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of operating independently.
  • Strong communication skills in Vietnamese and English.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel proficiency.
