About Envoy

Freight brokerages run on people making calls, chasing updates, checking credentials, coordinating with carriers, and jumping between a dozen tools. Every load depends on operational precision: the right carrier, the right paperwork, the right update, at the right time.

Envoy is building AI agents that help freight brokers and 3PLs run day-to-day operations end to end.

Our Agent Ellie makes carrier calls, books loads, verifies credentials, sends check-ins, chases documents, and keeps workflows moving. We’re live with freight brokers and 3PLs moving real shipments today.

The technical challenge is not just building AI features. It is understanding how freight operations actually work, then turning messy, time-sensitive, exception-heavy workflows into reliable production systems. That means orchestrating thousands of concurrent voice conversations, executing complex logistics workflows in real time, and integrating with TMSes, load boards, communication platforms, carrier systems, and legacy freight infrastructure.

The Role

We’re looking for a high-agency full-stack engineer with experience building enterprise-grade software in freight, logistics, supply chain, transportation, brokerage operations, TMS systems, load boards, dispatch, or adjacent operational domains.

You’ll join our AI-native engineering team and take ownership of major product and platform initiatives that help freight brokers and 3PLs run real shipments with AI agents.

This role is for someone who can lead from the front: clarify ambiguous problems, make strong technical decisions, drive execution across the stack, and raise the engineering bar as the team grows.

For this hire, domain fluency matters. You should understand freight broker and 3PL workflows, including TMS integrations, load boards, carrier networks, and operational edge cases.

We’re looking for someone who can reason beyond tickets and code, then translate real broker pain into reliable product, integration, and infrastructure decisions.

What You’ll Do

Product, Domain, and Integrations

  • Own product and technical architecture for logistics workflows across brokers, 3PLs, carriers, and customer-specific operations
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable integrations with TMSes, load boards, carrier systems, communication platforms, document workflows, and other freight infrastructure
  • Define patterns that let Envoy connect reliably across fragmented freight systems without turning every customer implementation into a one-off
  • Translate real-world freight operations into reliable agent workflows, data models, system abstractions, and customer-facing tools
  • Work with customers and internal teams to understand operational pain points, edge cases, failure modes, and automation opportunities

Full-Stack and Platform Engineering

  • Own end-to-end product features across our FastAPI backend and SvelteKit frontend
  • Design APIs, data models, and user experiences that scale with customer complexity
  • Create interfaces for workflow configuration, agent monitoring, debugging, and operational visibility
  • Drive reliability, performance, and scalability improvements across production systems
  • Build observability into core systems through SLOs, alerting, dashboards, tracing, and metrics

Ownership and Technical Leadership

  • Lead major technical initiatives from problem definition through production rollout
  • Make architecture decisions that shape the platform’s long-term direction
  • Break down ambiguous customer and product problems into clear technical plans
  • Collaborate on code reviews, design reviews, product discussions, and technical strategy
  • Bring domain context into engineering decisions so we build the right thing, not just the technically obvious thing
  • Mentor other engineers through thoughtful design feedback, code review, and technical judgment
  • Help establish an AI-native engineering culture with strong standards for code quality, system design, testing, deployment, and production reliability

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience building enterprise-grade software for logistics, freight, supply chain, transportation, brokerage, TMS, load boards, dispatch, warehousing, marketplace operations, or similarly complex operational domains
  • Experience integrating with external systems, APIs, legacy platforms, or customer-specific operational tools
  • Strong product intuition for workflow-heavy, exception-heavy environments
  • Strong fundamentals in system design, databases, distributed systems, and production reliability
  • Experience scaling production systems through performance optimization, caching, observability, infrastructure improvements, or reliability work
  • Proficiency with Python or TypeScript, ideally both
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Comfortable working across backend, frontend, infrastructure, integrations, and customer-facing product surfaces
  • AI-native engineer: you use tools like Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or similar assistants daily and know how to work effectively with LLM-powered development workflows
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work autonomously
  • Proven ability to own complex technical initiatives from ambiguity through production

Nice to Have

  • Direct experience with freight brokers, 3PLs, carriers, shippers, dispatchers, warehouses, or supply chain teams
  • Experience with TMSes, load boards, carrier networks, EDI workflows, logistics APIs, or legacy operational systems
  • Familiarity with freight tech realities such as inconsistent data models, customer-specific workflows, limited APIs, brittle exports, manual workarounds, and fragmented sources of truth
  • Early-stage startup experience, especially as a founding engineer, early technical hire, or technical lead
  • Experience with real-time systems such as WebSockets, voice processing, or LiveKit
  • Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar tools
  • Experience building AI, LLM, or agentic applications in production
  • Strong GitHub profile or open-source contributions

Our Stack

Backend

  • Python 3.12, FastAPI
  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis

AI and LLM

  • LangChain and LangGraph for agentic workflows
  • OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-source models
  • Real-time voice AI with LiveKit

Frontend

  • SvelteKit with TypeScript
  • Tailwind CSS
  • TanStack Query

Infrastructure

  • Docker
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Cloudflare Workers
  • GitHub Actions for CI/CD
  • Datadog and OpenTelemetry for observability

Why Join Envoy

Real Production AI

  • Work on AI agents running real freight operations today, not demos or toy workflows
  • Build systems where reliability, control, and trust matter because customers depend on them to move shipments
  • Solve hard problems at the intersection of AI, real-time voice, logistics workflows, integrations, and distributed systems
  • Integrate modern AI workflows with fragmented TMSes, load boards, carrier systems, communication platforms, and legacy freight infrastructure

Ownership and Impact

  • Own major technical initiatives from idea through production
  • Shape product and technical decisions that define how AI agents operate in logistics environments
  • Lead important platform decisions while staying close to customers, product, and code
  • See your work directly impact brokers, 3PLs, carriers, and logistics teams running real shipments
  • Help build the foundation for a platform that supports thousands of concurrent AI agents and enterprise users

AI-Native Engineering Culture

  • Join a team that uses Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, and other AI tools deeply across the engineering workflow
  • Help define best practices for an AI-native SDLC while keeping code quality, system design, testing, and production reliability high
