Job Description

As Cialfo’s Head of Legal, you will be responsible for setting and leading the Corporate Legal department, providing proactive, in-depth, legal, business-focused advice to the business. You will lead and drive all legal and compliance matters globally as well as implementing initiatives and processes to set standards and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality and ethical behavior across the business. As Head of Legal, you will work with and report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

Perform risk assessment and gap analysis on material commercial agreements and propose suitable rectifications.
Implementation of key legal processes with regards to drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
Analyze and identify the legal risks and implications of all business’s transactions, keeping the senior management team across the business informed of developments in laws and regulations that potentially affect the business.
Manage and build out the Legal & Compliance function of the company.
Develop framework for compliance monitoring in relation to data protection, licenses, trademark, copyright, regulatory, and corporate governance globally.
Lead legal structuring and advise on strategic projects as required, such as M&A, fundraising and partnerships.
Manage and liaise with regional or specialised lawyers to approach and respond to complaints, disputes, lawsuits, etc
Provide the business with strategic and operational guidance, aiding them in the management of litigation issues such as contract disputes and product liability.
Maintain proper corporate interactions with the relevant local government bodies, legislatures and the community at large.
Increase awareness on legal issues affecting individual departmental activities and transactions among all relevant business stakeholders.
Create and implement policies and procedures to ensure legal best practices.

Requirements

8+ years of working experience in corporate legal capacity within a fast-paced, and fast-evolving environment, post relevant degree in Law.
Be able to break down legal advice in simple terms that can be comprehended by business stakeholders who don’t have any legal background.
Excellent written communication skills in drafting high-value legal documentation, which must be clear, unambiguous, concise, and conclusive, leaving no room for misinterpretation or manipulation.
Experience of managing a team of junior legal professionals would be advantageous.
