At Branch, we’re transforming how brands and users interact across digital platforms. Our mobile marketing and deep linking solutions are trusted to deliver seamless experiences that increase ROI, decrease wasted spend, and eliminate siloed attribution. Our Branch team consists of smart, humble, and collaborative people who value ownership over all. Everything we do is centered around creating a great product, team, and company that lives and breathes our motto: Build Together, Grow Together, Win Together.

About the group:

The Discovery team is central to Branch’s vision, focusing on maximizing mobile performance growth by connecting advertisers with over 100+ Million daily active users. We are responsible for the intelligent system that powers highly-targeted, native programmatic media buying across premium on-device placements, including zero state and app drawer interfaces on Android devices.

The team you will lead is responsible for the performance-critical, on-device Android SDK. This SDK is the core engine that operates in a privacy-first manner, using machine learning and on-device signals to deliver tailored content and ads with minimal latency and a zero-footprint impact on user experience.

As the Engineering Manager for the Android SDK team, you will be the bridge between product vision, science innovation, and engineering execution, ensuring our SDK remains reliable, scalable, and a best-in-class product for our OEM partners.

What you’ll do

  • People & Culture

    • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of high-performing Android engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and collaboration.
    • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning to help team members achieve their potential.
    • Partner with recruiting to define hiring needs, source talent, and grow the team effectively to meet the evolving demands of the Discovery platform.

    Technical & Execution

    • Own the technical vision and roadmap for the Branch Android SDK, ensuring its stability, security, minimal CPU/battery usage, and low-latency performance at massive scale.
    • Drive technical decisions on the architecture of the SDK to support new features related to ad delivery, real-time targeting, and data collection while maintaining a privacy-first design philosophy.
    • Establish and enforce rigorous development best practices, including robust testing (unit, integration, instrumentation), code review, and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for rapid and safe releases.
    • Collaborate closely with Product Managers to translate requirements into concrete engineering plans, and work with Applied Scientists to integrate machine learning models and predictive logic seamlessly into the on-device SDK environment.
    • Act as the key technical liaison with external OEM partners regarding SDK integration, performance metrics, and feature deployments on zero state and app drawer placements.

What you bring

  • 3+ years of experience managing a software engineering team.
  • 7+ years of total experience in software development, with deep, hands-on expertise in Android platform development (Java/Kotlin).
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, and deploying high-volume, performance-critical SDKs, libraries, or core mobile components.
  • A strong understanding of Android architectural patterns, OS behavior, battery optimization techniques, and threading models.
  • Proven ability to manage project schedules, anticipate technical risks, and deliver complex software releases on time.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
