Role Overview:
The Regional Operations Manager will oversee our Los Angeles and Long Beach operations, manage a P&L, and champion high priority projects. This role will conduct market analyses to identify opportunities and action plans that optimize the marketplace and grow the P&L. The Regional Operations Manager will oversee our in-house team and Operating Partners, while collaborating cross-functionally, to deliver against operating plans, city regulations and KPIs.
Using strong operational and analytical experience, this person will work with our NA leaders to tackle key projects that will be instrumental in driving our business forward. We need a strategic critical thinker who can start at 30,000 feet and then dive deep into the details to ensure high quality results.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a “doer” attitude, strong bias for action, excellent time-management and organizational habits, and the ability to clearly communicate and present information to seek buy-in. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic and ambiguous environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the vision and execution of world class operations within the markets you manage with minimal oversight from your General Manager.
- Manage operations and growth for the region, oversee the P&L, achieve monthly targets, and analyze market data to guide strategic operational decisions.
- Manage and develop your team to help them grow and achieve their professional goals; be a motivator who can provide leadership while driving accountability and results.
- Regularly interact with key stakeholders in our cities and within community groups, balancing the needs of these stakeholders with the demands of the business.
- Partner with your colleagues cross-functionally to implement high-profile, high-impact projects.
- Look around corners to anticipate needs of the business and competitive pressures, while maintaining compliant local operations that ensure the long-term success of Bird’s business.
- Be solution oriented and help resolve “fire drill” situations.
- Skillfully manage relationships with external stakeholders (vendors, local government, regulatory agencies, community partners).
Must-Have:
- Relevant operations or tech experience.
- Strong Excel/data analysis skills (SQL is a plus).
- A “get it done” attitude – bias toward action, owner’s mindset, scrappy and entrepreneurial.
- Project management experience and proven ability to deliver results.
- Strong stakeholder management skills. Previous experience communicating with and negotiating with external stakeholders.
- Be a down-to-earth leader who can balance attention to detail with swift execution – we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well. Balancing those can be challenging, and this should be a strength.
- Explorer – the ability to self-serve, investigate, and get the data required will make you much more effective in this role.
- Willingness to get your hands dirty, get in the field, and lead by example.
Other Requirements:
- Must reside in the Los Angeles Metro Area, ideally within a 30 minute commute to downtown Los Angeles.
- Expectation to report to the warehouse or market 2 days/week.
- Willingness to travel frequently across markets to support local teams and initiatives.
- A passion for sustainability, urban mobility, or technology is highly desirable.
