AI Research Engineer - aiDrive

aiDrive is an automated driving platform with revolutionary virtual sensor technology that brings unparalleled data reusability for all levels of autonomy and different sensor setups. Using the latest available camera and radar sensors as well as navigational map support, aiMotive can create state-of-the-art Highway Assist solutions with Automatic Lane Change and Highway Interchange Management. aiDrive can also enable vehicles to move through and park in structured parking environments without the driver being in or near the car with its proprietary Automated Valet Parking Application.

An accurate understanding of the surroundings of the vehicle is at the heart of automated driving applications, detecting and providing 3D properties of static and dynamic objects surrounding the vehicle is one of the fundamental building blocks in delivering a safe and reliable automated driving experience.

As a Research Engineer in the Road Model team, you will take part in prototyping new solutions, porting prototypes as reliable modules into real-time self-driving applications and improving and benchmarking existing solutions related to road structure and markings, traffic signs, traffic lights and their accurate 3D localization. You will work on solutions deployed in different environments like driving on a highway, city and you will see your code running in real cars on multiple continents.

Job Summary

  • Research, develop, implement, and test artificial intelligence algorithms to improve the quality and robustness of the static world model in automated vehicles.
  • Special focus on:
    • Road structure – lanes, curbs, drivable trajectories
    • Traffic sign and traffic light detection – including 3D position and class
    • Produce maps of the static world based on detections
  • Participate in designing the training and evaluation framework pipeline, propose architecture changes and perform code reviews
  • Integrate prototype models into real-time self-driving systems

Key Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineer role
  • Strong Python programming and software design skills
  • Strong mathematical skills (linear algebra and probability distributions)
  • Experience in deep learning frameworks (Pytorch/Tensorflow)
  • Experience in computer vision
  • Experience in software development (git, code reviews, unit tests)
  • Ability to work independently and systematically

Considered as a plus

  • Programming in C++, working in Linux
  • Experience in machine learning and data analysis
  • Experience in Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes
  • Experience in robotics
  • Experience in developing safety critical, embedded, or real-time systems
  • Experience in computer graphics, physics simulation or other mathematics-intensive applications

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and long-term bonus system
  • Fitness opportunities
  • Free lunch every workday, nearby at one of the best all-you-can-eat restaurants in Budapest or delivered by Wolt for Work
  • Work on the hottest applied research problem in an agile working culture, backed by a strong, stable and future-proof industrial partnership
  • Develop solutions for one of the largest car manufacturer with a global reach
  • Test your solution in realistic simulated scenarios and a fleet of cars across multiple continents every day
  • Be proud of seeing your solution on the road
  • Visit relevant international conferences, submit patents of new solutions
  • We believe: people over process, we are keen to maintain a work-life balance
