The Senior Director of Corporate Revenue Accounting plays a key leadership role in overseeing the corporate revenue accounting function within 6sense. This senior-level position involves policy establishment and management, implementing and maintaining operations supporting GAAP and management reporting, financial analysis, and collaboration with various departments to ensure accurate revenue recognition, compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. The individual in this role reports to the SVP Corp. Finance and Chief Accounting Officer.


Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Establish and maintain revenue and bookings policies, whitepapers, and technical memos. Develop and implement operational strategies and associated controls for effective revenue recognition and accounting processes. Collaborate with executive leadership to align corporate revenue goals with overall corporate objectives.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely SSP establishment, testing, and periodic review of Performance Obligation allocations, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. Stakeholder in product and system launches, providing proactive technical accounting and operational requirements. Stakeholder in M&A activity during diligence and integration.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of order management, revenue operations and revenue accounting, billings, collections and corporate revenue reporting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide guidance on complex issues and ensure team members are well-trained.
  • Process Management, Optimization, and Monitoring: Establish, maintain, and monitor revenue team standard operating procedures, controls, training, and approved templates. Catalog and maintain use cases including standard and non-standard variations of selling motions, commercial sales plays, and professional services offerings, to facilitate UAT, regression testing, readiness, and enablement efficiency. Continuously evaluate and enhance revenue accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices and stay updated on changes in accounting regulations impacting revenue recognition.
  • Lead the O2C transformation Initiative. Engage in transformation efforts by identifying enhancements, garnering support, aligning stakeholders, drafting requirements, and overseeing change management. Oversee revenue operations closely working with deal desk, renewals teams and broader finance to assure orders are primed for processing and meet all compliance and processing requirements.
  • Champion a high-quality customer experience, manage risks, and drive improvements in the cash conversion cycle.
  • Build the rhythm of regularly publishing insightful performance dashboards (compliance, volumes, accuracy etc.) and business KPIs. Strong understanding and operational knowledge of KPIs like bookings (ACV/ ARR), NRR, GRR, de-bookings etc. is required.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Sales, Legal, Pricing and boarder Finance, to ensure alignment in revenue recognition policies and procedures. Collaborate with external auditors to support the audit process.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring the organization remains compliant. Assess and mitigate risks associated with revenue recognition.
  • Build trusting relationships with sales and IT business partners and engage key stakeholders in regular communication. Share insights on business trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop operational expertise in team to leverage Salesforce.com CRM and Sage Intacct ERP platforms. Partner with IT to introduce & implement complementary technologies to achieve mission and benefit.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required, CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting for subscription/ SaaS and consumption-based model, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Public accounting audit experience is a great plus
  • Extensive knowledge of revenue recognition principles, corporate policies, accounting standards (ASC 606), internal controls and financial reporting.
  • Deeper understanding of how CPQ works with ERP

Base Salary Range: $197,664 to $270,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to work location and experience. The base salary is one component of 6sense’s total compensation package for this position. Other compensation may include a bonus program or commission plan, and stock options if approved by 6sense’s board.
